Arc of Yates hosts Kid's Day to showcase agency to school-aged children

“What does my mom or dad do all day long when they’re at work?” 

That was the question that 33 children of Arc of Yates employees learned the answer to yesterday during “Kid’s Day.”  The day-long program offered children a look into the inner workings of the Agency as they toured the facilities, completed sensitivity activities, and shared lunch with the individuals in the Vocational Education program.

Keuka Lake School celebrates Dr. Seuss Birthday
Students at Keuka Lake School celebrated the “Cat in the Hat” author’s birthday on Wednesday with storybook readings from special guests, a visit from the Cat in the Hat, and sampling Green Eggs and Ham.

National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, celebrated across the country in March, is a valuable reminder that people with disabilities are valuable, contributing members of our community who have much to offer and a desire to participate.

DRIVE ends expriential learning period at Cumming Nature Center with special event and tour

The students of DRIVE spent the month of January volunteering at the South Bristol nature center

While many of their fellow Keuka College classmates traveled home for winter break, participants in the D.R.I.V.E. Program moved their experiential learning 45-minutes away to Cumming Nature Center.  The South Bristol nature center played host to the 26 students who participated in classes, volunteered at the welcome desk, and completed maintenance and small-scale construction projects.

Arc of Yates receives grant for Electronic Health Records

The grant from the Office of Mental Health is for $49,000.

The Arc of Yates was notified this week that they have been awarded a grant in the amount of $49,842.  The Non-Profit Behavioral Health/Developmental Disability Providers Health Information Technology Investment Program grant was awarded through the New York State Office of Mental Health and will be used to implement an Electronic Health Records system for the Agency.
