SkylArc Studio is a day services program that provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to express themselves through art.

Located on Main Street in Penn Yan, SkylArc Studio provides a safe and comfortable environment that encourages creativity and self-expression for individuals.

While exploring artistic abilities, individuals not only learn about art, they learn about themselves. Staff work with individuals to foster their artistic capabilities while assisting them in developing skills in communication, socialization, and money management. By participating in the SkylArc program, individuals achieve a higher level of independence, a stronger awareness of responsibility, and a sense of productivity in the community.

Artists specialize in glass mosaics, but also work in the mediums of acrylics, paper mache, photography, glass fusing, pottery and printmaking.  Much of the work is commissioned by individuals and businesses and non-profit organizations in the community. The studio participates annually in art shows in the area. Members of the studio are always pleased to welcome visitors and are proud to showcase their artistry at the gallery.

Bluff and Vine Launch Reception Held

On Wednesday December 13, 2017, the Arc of Yates hosted a reception for the launch of Bluff and Vine, a literary magazine founded by Penn Yan native Bethany Snyder and Alex Andrasik, adult services librarian from Penn Yan Public Library.  The magazine features both nonfiction and fiction work and is illustrated by individuals enrolled in Skylarc Art Institute, a program of the Arc of Yates. Guests of the event, held at the studio housed in the Agency’s program facility, enjoyed the opportunity to meet the authors and artists as well as purchase signed copies of the publication and accompanying artwork.  Plans for a second volume of the magazine are in process.
