SkylArc Studio is a day services program that provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to express themselves through art.

Located on Main Street in Penn Yan, SkylArc Studio provides a safe and comfortable environment that encourages creativity and self-expression for individuals.

While exploring artistic abilities, individuals not only learn about art, they learn about themselves. Staff work with individuals to foster their artistic capabilities while assisting them in developing skills in communication, socialization, and money management. By participating in the SkylArc program, individuals achieve a higher level of independence, a stronger awareness of responsibility, and a sense of productivity in the community.

Artists specialize in glass mosaics, but also work in the mediums of acrylics, paper mache, photography, glass fusing, pottery and printmaking.  Much of the work is commissioned by individuals and businesses and non-profit organizations in the community. The studio participates annually in art shows in the area. Members of the studio are always pleased to welcome visitors and are proud to showcase their artistry at the gallery.

Arc of Yates Represented in Miss Penn Yan Pageant

This year the Arc of Yates was represented by Lexi Strong in the Miss Penn Yan Pageant.  Lexi is the daughter of Lynn Strong, Occupational Therapist at Keuka Lake School, a program of the Arc of Yates. (pictured to the left)

The pageant, held during the village’s StarShine festival, highlights young high school women who contribute to their community.  Sponsored by local clubs and organizations, each nominee presents their vision of what they would do if they were in charge of Penn Yan for a day. The winner is announced at the StarShine celebration held in December.

The Arc of Yates was pleased to support this year’s pageant, and is grateful for the civic minded young adults in our community.  Congratulations to Lexi on her nomination, and thanks to Deb Fabris-Coon, Chief Education Administrator, for her support during the process.
