SkylArc Studio is a day services program that provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to express themselves through art.

Located on Main Street in Penn Yan, SkylArc Studio provides a safe and comfortable environment that encourages creativity and self-expression for individuals.

While exploring artistic abilities, individuals not only learn about art, they learn about themselves. Staff work with individuals to foster their artistic capabilities while assisting them in developing skills in communication, socialization, and money management. By participating in the SkylArc program, individuals achieve a higher level of independence, a stronger awareness of responsibility, and a sense of productivity in the community.

Artists specialize in glass mosaics, but also work in the mediums of acrylics, paper mache, photography, glass fusing, pottery and printmaking.  Much of the work is commissioned by individuals and businesses and non-profit organizations in the community. The studio participates annually in art shows in the area. Members of the studio are always pleased to welcome visitors and are proud to showcase their artistry at the gallery.

Arc of Yates Celebrates Direct Support Professional Week

During the week of September 10th, the Arc of Yates joins other organizations around the country in celebrating Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).  The contributions made by DSPs are invaluable and one week a year is designated to allow service providers from across the country to express their appreciation.

Direction Support Professionals are the foundation of any service organization.  Their jobs can be extraordinarily difficult and include a high degree of responsibility.  At the same time, these highly skilled, dedicated professionals report that their ability to enhance the lives of others is tremendously rewarding.

Caregivers will attest that DSPs are like family to the individuals they support, and it is not unusual for Direct Support Professionals to work with the same individuals for most of their careers.

At the Arc of Yates, it is an honor to recognize the DSP staff and the inspiring work they do.  It is because of their skill, commitment and significant efforts that we positively impact the individuals that we support and our community at large.
