Arc of Yates Article 16 Clinic is certified by NYS OPWDD, under the direction of a board certified physician, and staffed by dedicated professionals.

Our Clinic supports the mission of the Arc of Yates by providing services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve a higher level of independence.  The one-on-one, personal treatment and attention provided enhances the social, emotional and physical health of the people we serve.

Our Clinic team is composed of professionals from disciplines that are relevant for identifying an individual’s needs and interests and designing a program to best meet those needs.  The Clinic team works together to provide individualized services and periodically reviews the individual’s plan of service.

Our clinic is located at 235 North Avenue in Penn Yan.  Appointments are typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 4:00pm but other appointment times are available upon request.

  • Dietetics/Nutrition

  • Nursing Services

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Psychiatric Services

  • Psychological/Behavioral Therapy

  • Social Work Counseling

Besides our ongoing services, we provide a variety of specialized assessments:

  • Psychological Testing/Eligibility Assessments

  • Competency and Capacity for decision making and informed consent

  • Autism Diagnosis and Evaluations

Nutrition – Our Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist provides individuals with a complete nutrition assessment to determine their requirements and then design realistic, personalized nutrition recommendations to meet each person’s unique needs and goals.  Exercise plans and stress reduction techniques are also available.  We provide nutrition counseling and education for weight loss, heart disease, diabetes, Renal disease, Label reading, Smart shopping, healthy cooking modifications and making healthy food/lifestyle.

Nursing Services - Nursing is provided by registered nurses and services include assessment and evaluation of an individual’s healthcare needs. Nursing services also encompass health and wellness education, along with counseling on disease and medication management, healthy lifestyle planning, and techniques for coping with chronic illness.

Occupational Therapy – Our OT team will perform a complete evaluation for upper extremity and hand function. OTs will work with people who need assistance with any of their Activities of Daily Living ( ADL’s),  such as dressing and hygiene skills and things that impact their ADL’s such as  endurance, functional mobility, sensory integration, visual perceptual skills, ergonomics, adaptive equipment needs, transfers, fine motor and gross motor control and coordination. We provided splint fabrication, wheelchair clinic and positioning and seating solutions.

Psychiatric Services -   Our psychiatrist addresses mental, emotional or behavior disorders with appropriate medication interventions as necessary.

Psychology – The role of psychotherapy can be essential to help individuals learn to take control of their life and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills.  Our clinicians utilize a wide range of therapeutic modalities and techniques during both group and individual treatment sessions to address a variety of issues.

Social Work – Our Social Workers will work with individuals, families and groups to develop a plan to address behaviors, emotions, attitudes, relationships, and social conditions to restore and enhance the individual’s capacity to meet personal and social needs.

Guest Speaker: Nicholas Courgi

April is Autism Awareness Month
In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, the Arc of Yates will be hosting a series of presentations every Tuesday during the month of April.

The final session will feature guest speaker Nicholas Courgi, a graduate of Onondaga Community College, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. This session will be held on Tuesday April 24th at 240 Powell Lane from 6:00pm-7:30pm and is free to attend.

April is Autism Awareness Month
In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, the Arc of Yates will be hosting a series of presentations every Tuesday during the month of April.

The third session entitled "Make It and Take It" will be held on April 17th from 6:30pm-7:30pm at 240 Powell Lane.

Announcing the 3rd Annual Duck Race

Announcing the 3rd Annual Duck Race
The 3rd Annual Duck Race is quickly approaching!  Scheduled for Friday, June 15th, this year’s race will kick off with a family fundraising event at Lake Street Park from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  The event, held in partnership with Yates County Chamber of Commerce’s Cruisn Night, will host a DJ, face painter, games and kid friendly fare.
