Popular Duck Race returns to Penn Yan on June 17th

The ducks are back and will be floating down the Keuka Outlet on June 17th as the popular Duck Race returns to Penn Yan.   2,500 rubber ducks will be released into the Outlet at the Main Street Bridge beginning at 6:30pm as a fundraiser for the Arc of Yates.  The community is invited to buy tickets for the ducks, with prizes awarded for the ducks which reach the finish line first.

Ducks are $10 and can be purchased at Community Bank, Five Star Bank, Lyons National Bank, The Flour Shop, The Tavern Restaurant, SkylArc Studio, and the Arc of Yates (240 North Ave.)  Tickets sold will correlate with a numbed duck that will be released during “Crusin’ Night” on June 17th at 6:30pm.

Dozens of prizes will be awarded to the ducks first over the finish line including items from local artisans, gift cards to restaurants and businesses, and an overnight stay at the nearly-completed Hampton Inn.  Local businesses donating gift cards and items includes Horning Green House, Timmy G’s, La Cochina, Seneca Farms, The Antique Inn, and the Wagner.

“The duck race was a popular event in Penn Yan for many years, and many in the community are excited to see it return after an absence of several years,” notes Arc of Yates Board President Ann McMullen.  “It’s a great family-friendly event and a fun way to support the work we do at the Arc of Yates.”

Ducks are also available at the SkylArc Studio tent (located outside LyonSmith Brewing on Water Street) during the Keuka Art Festival.  This weekend is the only time that $15 specialty “design-a-duck” ducks will be available.  By purchasing a “design-a-duck,” participants can customize their duck for better spotting during the race.  Designers are also able to keep their duck as a keepsake after the race.  SkylArc artists and staff will be on hand to help the community paint their custom duck from noon to 5pm each day during the Keuka Arts Festival.

A complete list of prizes is available at www.arcofyates.org.  Tickets are also available for purchase via paypal at the same address.
