Camp Week

The Agency held its 3rd annual Camp Week excursion at Camp Cory the week of June 5, 2018.  With the exception of this annual tradition, many participants have limited opportunities to exposure to recreational activities in a formalized summer camp environment.  Supported by the entire Arc of Yates staff, recreational and educational components emphasized science, art, music, dance as well as traditional camping pleasures.  An Agency wide effort, planning stages begin months in advance and is a coordinated effort within the Agency.  With over 350 participants, staff attends to every detail: activity schedules, menus, transportation, set up, break down, overnight lodging, 24/7 supervision and the purchase and delivery of a plethora of supplies.  While the manpower and organizational capacity required to ensure the success of Camp Week is significant, we have learned that as an Agency when we harness our energy we can accomplish great things.

Pictured: Katie G. took first place in the Arc of Yates Regatta.  The annual tradition requires program staff to build and sail a boat constructed of only cardboard and duct tape.  Programs competed for a handcrafted mosaic plaque designed by artists from the Agency’s art institute.
