Center-Based/Pre-school Services

Keuka Lake School offers both center-based and home-based educational opportunities for pre-school children with disabilities. Educational home based services called Special Education Itinerant Services (SEIT) are delivered anywhere the child is, be it Day Care, Head Start, Universal Pre-Kindergarten, and/or at the child’s home.

Each child’s educational program is based on the student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). This ensures that each child’s individualized academic needs are met. The educational program is staffed by Special Education/Early Childhood teachers licensed in New York State.

The staff at Keuka Lake School uses the Responsive Classroom Philosophy. This approach emphasizes social, emotional, and academic growth in a strong and safe school community to guide daily activities.

Included in the vast array of services provided by Keuka Lake School are psychological and nursing services. Psychology services are available for children and parents who need assistance dealing with the stress of everyday life. This service also benefits staff at Keuka Lake School in assisting them when addressing behavioral issues that may arise in the classroom.

Nursing services are provided by Registered Nurses who offer medication oversight during the school day. Nursing services are also available to provide education, information, and support to the children and their families.
